Dear Families,
Hope everyone remembered to “Spring forward” for daylight savings. We are all looking forward to more daylight and warmer weather ahead.
Please be sure to fill out your NYCPS family survey. You can do it online or send in the green envelopes. Classes with the most surveys completed will receive a prize!
Please read below for the many upcoming March events.
Upcoming events:
- Grades 3-5 – Welcoming Wednesday, 3/12/2025 – Come engage in some STEM activities in your child’s classroom
- After School Test Prep Program for grade 3-5 students begins this Thursday, 3/13 from 2:30 – 4:20pm. Please call the school if you would like to register for this program. The cost is $75. Registration form HERE
- PTA Movie Nights – Pre-registration is required – A flyer was sent home. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the PTA at ps184pta@gmail.com
- Friday, March 14 Prek-2nd grade – Parent/guardian must accompany your child.
- Friday, March 21 Grade 3-5 – Drop off event
- Clothing Drive: We are hosting our first clothing drive, by decluttering and cleaning out your closets you could help those in need and raise funds for our school at the same time. All you need to do is to drop off your bagged unwanted item at our school on March 22 from 11 am to 3 pm by exit # 7 located on 21st avenue.
What to bring:- All kinds of clothing (gently used),
- Shoes,
- Handbags,
- stuffed animals and plastic toys (NO Legos, NO puzzles, NO toys with small pieces.)
- Linens (towels, curtains, bed sheets).
- Parent Chat – Please join Ms. Blanchet on March 22 at 11:30 am for a parent chat in the school auditorium, to discuss future events at our school.
Important Announcements:
- Mandatory HIV lessons – P.E. teacher will soon begin teaching the lessons as part of the comprehensive health education program. A letter was sent home a couple of weeks ago.
- CEC Elections– Meet the Candidates, the Candidate Forums present an excellent opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the individuals running for the Community and Citywide Education Councils. The forums will be conducted online via Zoom, preregistration is required. If you are unable to attend live, you may access the recordings of the forums on at https://www.schools.nyc.gov/get-involved/families/education-councils/elections/candidate-forums
- In case of remote instruction – In case schools are called to remote instruction due to circumstances such as extreme weather (ex. Snow storm), please be aware of the following:
- Students should have a device at home to access Google classroom and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom or Google Meet, etc.
- New! Students in grades K-5 will be required to be online for 5 hours with their teachers
- Students should all know how to log into their student accounts such as Teachhub.
- Outdoor recess – Students will be going out to recess as long as the real-feel temperature is 32 degrees and above. As the weather gets colder, please be sure to send your children with appropriate outerwear. Consider labeling your child’s jacket/coat on the inside so that it can be returned to them if lost.
- School iPads – If you would like your child to be able to bring their school issued iPad back and forth from home, you must contact Ms. Agro and set up a time to fill out a DOE device loan agreement. Please note that this is different than the school loan agreement. Families will be responsible for any damage to the ipad and/or keyboard covers.
- Traffic Safety – Keep Our Children Safe– PLEASE adhere to all traffic and safety laws. Do not double park. Do not triple park. Do not let your child let your child out in the middle of the street. Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways.
