Upcoming events:

B.E.A.R. (Be Excited About Reading) Week – March 3-7 – Each day will have unique reading activities, spirit days, surprise visits from special guest readers, and much more throughout the week. See the list of activities HERE.

Scholastic Book Fair – Students and 1 guest are welcome to shop, please see the schedule to see when your child’s class will be visiting the book fair. or you may shop online at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/psflushingmanorschool

During the week of March 3-7, we will be having a Lock Down Drill

Report Cards, iReady and Acadience reports – Will be going home on Wednesday, March 5th.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held virtually on Thursday, March 6th. This will be a Half Day for all students. Dismissal starts at 11:20 am. There are NO afterschool activities including, NY Academy afterschool on this day.

Grades 3-5 – Welcoming Wednesday, 3/12/2025 – Come engage in some STEM activities in your child’s classroom.
Important Announcements:

Mandatory HIV lessons – P.E. teacher will soon begin teaching the lessons as part of the comprehensive health education program. A letter was sent home last week.

NYCPS Survey 2025 – The paper survey was sent home this past week. Please be sure to fill out the survey for our school. You can do this by filling out the paper survey or online. Classes with 100% of surveys submitted will receive a prize.

Summer Rising 2025 – The Summer Rising application opens on Tuesday, March 4. The letter with the creation code to apply was sent home with your child on Friday. -Learn more about admissions updates and the Summer Rising Application at schools.nyc.gov/summerrising. In case of remote instruction – In case schools are called to remote instruction due to circumstances such as extreme weather (ex. Snow storm), please be aware of the following:

Students should have a device at home to access Google classroom and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom or Google Meet, etc.

New! Students in grades K-5 will be required to be online for 5 hours with their teachers

Students should all know how to log into their student accounts such as Teachhub.

Outdoor recess – Students will be going out to recess as long as the real-feel temperature is 32 degrees and above. As the weather gets colder, please be sure to send your children with appropriate outerwear. Consider labeling your child’s jacket/coat on the inside so that it can be returned to them if lost.

School iPads – If you would like your child to be able to bring their school issued iPad back and forth from home, you must contact Ms. Agro and set up a time to fill out a DOE device loan agreement. Please note that this is different than the school loan agreement. Families will be responsible for any damage to the ipad and/or keyboard covers.

Traffic Safety – Keep Our Children Safe– PLEASE adhere to all traffic and safety laws. Do not double park. Do not triple park. Do not let your child let your child out in the middle of the street. Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways.
