Dear P.S. 184 Families,

Happy Veterans Day to all of our veterans. Thank you for your service!!

This past week we had two wonderful Veterans Day assemblies for our K-5 students. They were able to meet and hear from a few wonderful veterans as well as a retired firefighter who now works with the Tunnels to Towers organization that does a lot of work to support our veterans and first responders. Councilwoman Palladino was also able to come and speak during the upper grade assembly and a gave a message about recognizing and thanking the real heroes, our veterans. We thank Mrs. Camarda for planning and arranging for these special visitors to our school as she has done for the past few years. We also want to thank our school community once again for their generosity. We were able to raise $686.25 for the Tunnel to Towers organization!

Upcoming events:
  • No School – Monday, November 11, 2024 – Veterans day
  • Family Fun Night – Thursday, November 21 from 5-7pm. Come join us for a night of fun and help us to raise money to purchase Lego coding kits for our Computer Based Project Cluster. The night will include arts and crafts, games, prizes, an opportunity to participate in a session with Korea Taekwondo, and exciting raffles.
  • Safety Drills – We are planning on having an evacuation drill this week.

Important Announcements:

  • Outdoor recess – As the weather gets colder, please be sure to send your children with appropriate outerwear. Consider labeling your child’s jacket/coat on the inside so that it can be returned to them if lost.

  • Lost and Found – The lost and found is located in a bin by the main entrance. If your child has lost anything please have them look in the bin or stop by yourself to look. There are many jackets in there waiting for their owners. Any uncollected items by Monday, November 25th, will be donated regardless or value or condition.

  • School iPads – If you would like your child to be able to bring their school issued iPad back and forth from home, you must contact Ms. Agro and set up a time to fill out a DOE device loan agreement. Please note that this is different than the school loan agreement.

  • New Lateness Procedures –  After the doors close at 8:20am, for safety reasons, a parent/guardian must ring the doorbell, come sign in with security and then come to the main office to sign your child into school.

  • Keep Our Children Safe– PLEASE adhere to all traffic and safety laws. Do not double park. Do not triple park. Do not let your child let your child out in the middle of the street. Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways.

  • Keep our School Yard Clean – Please be sure to keep our school yard clean by throwing all garbage away in the trash cans. We want to make sure the yard is clean and safe for our students to play in.
