Happy Spring!  Thank you to the PTA for a successful Family Movie Night for our Grade 3-5 students!  

Happy Holi to those that celebrate this colorful holiday!  Happy Purim to those that celebrate this holiday!  Happy Greek Independence day to those that celebrate this holiday!

As we welcome the warmer weather, we also welcome State testing season.

Families of students in grades 3-5, please read this Student Participation (Family) Guide (available in all DOE languages) regarding the State exams. Students in grades 3-4 will take paper based tests this year. Students in grade 5 will take the Computer Based tests this year. Grade 5 families will receive a letter from the DOE regarding the Computer based testing next week.

State Exam Schedule:

ELA – Grades 3-4 – April 11 & 12; Grade 5 – April 15 & 16

Math – Grade 3-4 – May 7 & 8; Grade 5 – May 8 & 9 

Science – Grade 5 only – May 15

Please join us for the following upcoming events:
  • Parent workshop – Tuesday, March 26th at 9am – Learn about creating an optimal Home Study Environment from a presenter from Elevate Education
  • Grades K-2 Families – Welcoming Wednesday, April 3 from 8:15 – 8:50am – Come participate in a Mind Up lesson and join us for a brain break!  One guest per student allowed due to space constraints.
  • Wellness Night – Thursday, April 4th 6-8pm. Come for an evening of fun. Learn more about Mind Up. Participate in some physical activity such as yoga and make a cool calming jar to take home. 
Important Announcement:
  • School Survey – Please be sure to fill out the survey for our school. You can do this by filling out the paper survey or online. Classes with 100% of surveys submitted will receive a free snack! 
  • Grade 3-5 -After School Test Prep program will began on Thursday, 3/14. If you would still like to sign up your child, please call the school.
  • Keep Our Children Safe– PLEASE adhere to all traffic and safety laws. Do not double park. Do not triple park. Do not let your child let your child out in the middle of the street. Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways. 
  • Summer Rising: The deadline to apply for summer rising is March 25. For more information please visit or contact our parent coordinator Ms. Sandra at
  • Remote Readiness – Please contact the school if you or your child has difficulty accessing Google Classroom at home.
  • Outdoor Recess – According to the NYC DOE, students are encouraged play outside whenever possible, which includes in cold weather. In collaboration with SLT, it is our school policy that children will go out to recess as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or higher with the wind chill. Children should come prepared with the following: a winter jacket, a hat, a scarf, and/or gloves. We suggest you label all items with your child’s first and last name. 
  • Class Dojo – If you have not done so already, be sure to sign up so that you can get updates from your child’s teacher.
