Dear P.S. 184 Families,

Our students were privileged to attend an assembly program or have a classroom visit from some veterans this Friday in recognition of Veterans Day. We thank Ms. Camarda for organizing such a great event. Also, a great big thank you to the families that donated to the Disabled American Veterans. We raised over $700! Happy Veterans Day to all of our veterans and their families!

It was wonderful to see so many families join us this past Wednesday for our upper-grade Welcoming Wednesday. We hope you enjoyed observing part of an HMH lesson.

Happy Diwali to all families who celebrate!

Please join us for the following upcoming events:

P.S. 184Q Family Fun Night – Come join us on Thursday, November 16th from 6-8 pm! We are looking forward to a night of games, crafts, and fun! Plus, don’t forget, we will have raffles and snacks available for sale to help us raise money for our Arts Programs! Please note, tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. As soon as we reach our capacity, we will not be able to accommodate any more people.

November PTA meeting – Monday, 11/27 @ 7 pm. The link will be shared via email.

Important Announcement:

Fire Drill – Last week, our school conducted a fire drill. Schools must conduct fire drills a few times a year to ensure that everyone in the building knows how to get outside quickly and quietly in case of an emergency. For more information about emergency readiness in public schools, please visit

No School – Thanksgiving – November 23-24.

Traffic Safety – Please adhere to all traffic and safety laws. Do not double park. Do not triple park. Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways. Keep our children safe!

Remote Device Learning Survey – All students received a survey; please send it back to school as soon as possible to let us know the family readiness for remote/virtual learning in the event of a school closure due to weather.

School Spirit Day – Friday, 11/17th – Crazy Hat and Hair Day

Outdoor Recess – According to the NYC DOE, students are encouraged to play outside whenever possible, which includes in cold weather. In collaboration with SLT, it is our school policy that children will go out to recess as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or higher with the wind chill. Children should come prepared with a winter jacket, a hat, a scarf, and/or gloves. We suggest you label all items with your child’s first and last name.

Class Dojo – If you have not done so already, be sure to sign up so that you can get updates from your child’s teacher.
