Dear P.S. 184Q Families, 

It was a pleasure to be able to see so many of you during our Virtual Meet the Teacher meetings this past Thursday. Ms. Cregan and I also enjoyed being able to Mix and Mingle with our Prek and Kindergarten families last Tuesday. We look forward to seeing and getting to know all of our students and families even more throughout this year!

September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage month. We look forward to celebrating and highlighting our P.S. 184Q Hispanic American staff members.

Please join us for the following upcoming events:

  • Welcome Back to School Event hosted by the PTA  Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30pm in the Cove area on 163rd Street
  • PTA General Meeting – Tuesday, September 26th at 7pm.- During this meeting PTA will share their plans for the year and SLT elections will be conducted. Zoom Link for the meeting will be shared via email closer to the date. 
  • October Welcoming Wednesdays – More information will be shared in the coming weeks
    • PreK – Wednesday, October 4th from 8:15 – 8:50am. Due to space constraints one guest per child will be welcomed into the classroom to observe the PreK morning routines.
    • Kindergarten – Wednesday, October 4th from 8:15 – 8:50amDue to space constraints, one guest per child will be welcomed into the classroom to observe a Heggerty and Fundations lesson.
    • Grade 1 and Grade 2 – Wednesday,  October 11th from 8:15 – 8:50 amDue to space constraints, one guest per child will be welcomed into the classroom to observe a Heggerty and Fundations lesson.
      • Grade 3-5 parents will have a chance to be welcomed into their child’s classroom in November.
  • IA Superintendent Dr. Dantona’s Listening to Learn Tour – Dr. Dantona will be having one of his listening and learning tour stops at P.S. 184Q on Thursday, October 5th from 6-7pm. He would love to meet all of our parents and learn more about our community and what we need, what we want, and what is important to our families and our school. Please be sure to save the date and come meet our new superintendent in person!

Important Announcement:

  • School Closed – Monday, September 25th in observance of Yom Kippur.
  • Fall Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th.  A flyer was sent home Friday, with the instructions how to preorder your photos online.


Be sure to fill out and return the following important documents if you have not done so already:
  • School Lunch form – We must have a signed form from all students even if your child eats lunch from home. 
  • Emergency Blue Cards      
  • Media consent forms
  • Recess/walking permission form
Reading with your child is a big part of getting students to love reading and bonding with them over a good book. We encourage you to participate in the monthly Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) program which was sent home along with the monthly calendar. Each child who submits the completed PARP calendar on the first day of the following month will receive a small reward!  We look forward to seeing many, many PARP calendars being submitted in the months to come.
