Here is the weekly update, to keep you informed about what is happening in our school.

Parent Communication ~We are happy to announce that we will continue the use of Parent Square this school year, as it provides direct translation and an instant messaging system for our families. Teachers will be establishing class connections through Parent Square in the coming week. Thank you for your patience in this process. New families should download the free app available for Apple and Android devices in preparation for this method of communication.

Beginning of the year (BOY) Assessments ~ Next week, classroom teachers will begin to assess students in literacy using classroom-based assessments. Independent reading levels will be determined for all students in the next month. iReady diagnostic testing will also begin in ELA and Math. These early assessments help us to get to know our students well so that we can best address their learning needs.

Monthly SEL Activities ~This week we will begin our monthly SEL Character and Culture lessons. Each month we will focus on a character trait to help our students to be ready to make positive contributions to our modern world. We will also share a book that allows our students to connect with their own cultures as well as those of other cultures in our world.

MySchools account ~ Parents and Guardians with children in the DOE public schools system can create a MySchools account.  Adding your children to your account gives you access to their records, get school-specific updates, you can keep track of your child’s education, get access to report cards, attendance etc. You only need one account for all your children. If you need the creation code to add a child to your account, please email Ms. Sandra at swblanchet@schools.nyc.gov

Student Account ~ The DOE creates an account for every single New York City public school student. With the DOE student account, students can access multiple DOE technology platforms, such as Google Classroom, TeachHub, Zoom, etc. If you have trouble logging in to your student’s account, please email Ms. Sandra at swblanchet@school.nyc.gov

Fundraising ~ Our Fall Fundraising with Miss Chocolate starts Monday, September 19^th. Catalogs will be sent home with your child. With your support we will be able to provide much-needed resources for our school and memorable experiences for our children. We thank you in advance for your support.

PTA Updates ~ Save the date: The PTA Executive Board of P.S. 184Q will be having the 1^st meeting of the year on September 29, 2022 at 7 pm. Agenda and zoom link will be provided closer to the date.

Fall Photo Day ~ Get ready, Picture Day is Wednesday, September 28^th If you wish to order your pictures in advance, you may do so at www.mylifetouch.com with the school picture day ID EVT7S92BN or return the paper provided to your child on Picture Day.
