Principal’s Weekly Update 11/13/21
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Flushing Manor Community,
Hope everyone is doing well! Here are this week’s updates and reminders.
Food Drive: The P.S. 184Q student council is holding a Thanksgiving food drive this week. We invite everyone to participate! All items must be brought in by November 19th 2021.
Please click here to see flyer for further details.
At-home Technology Support: Lexia Core 5 Literacy/iReady Reading/iReady Math: We encourage families to make use of the technology support that is currently available for all students to use at home. Each program supports students with activities that are designed to be responsive and provide instruction based on student responses. Because the programs are individualized, students of all levels can benefit from these programs. Once your child logs in, you can see the activities and monitor their progress. The school website has more information about logging in.
Virtual Admissions Workshop: The DOE is offering virtual workshops to guide families in the registration process for incoming 3K, Pre-K and Kindergarten Families. Please share this information with any families who will be new to the DOE. Click here to view workshop flyer.
Early Drop Off: Families who registered for this support will be receiving a separate email with details.
Parent Workshop: A virtual workshop supporting families in Internet and Technology Safety for Parents is being offered. This will be a remote event on Tuesday, November 23,2021 at 2:45PM-3:30PM
You can register here: https://ps184q.com/parent-workshop-form/
Registered parents will receive a link to join the session on the day of the session.
PTA Fundraiser: Please look out for reminders about the PTA Cascon Cheesecake Fundraiser.
Knowledge of Families Questionnaire: We will continue to collect information about our families to support our instructional priority of using a deep knowledge of students and families to target individual needs in order to support improved progress and performance for all students. Knowing our families allows us to incorporate that knowledge into providing a culturally responsive and sustaining education which supports all students. Please take the time to complete it before November 19th.
Device Request Link: Please complete the survey in order to be put on the list for technology distribution. Someone from the school will contact you for device pick-up.
We look forward to an exciting week of learning ahead, for all of our young Learners for Life, for Life!
