Principal’s Weekly Update 11/7/2021

Dear Parents and Guardians of the Flushing Manor Community,

Hope everyone was able to enjoy the weekend! This week we celebrate Veteran’s Day with a School Holiday on Thursday, November 11, 2021, there is no school on this day. We recognize all those who fought to protect our nation over the years. We continue to live with gratitude towards the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our benefit.

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.

P.S. 184Q-Vaccination Pop Up Site: Information about Pop up Vaccination has been shared with families over the past week and is on the school website. As a reminder, families who are interested in having their children vaccinated can come to the school auditorium entrance on the 21st Avenue Cove opening between 7AM and 11AM tomorrow November 8, 2021.

Early Drop Off: We have collected the information from those families who require supervision for the students before the school day begins and will be reaching out directly to those families who responded with information about the program start date.

Lunch Procedures: Beginning on Monday, November 8, 2021 students in all grades will eat lunch indoors following current CDC guidance on indoor eating. Towels will no longer be needed at this time. We will also be transitioning to hot lunch meals. Please note the menu on the DOE school Foods website may vary and is not guaranteed. The students will continue to have daily recess each day, weather permitting.

Parent Workshop: A workshop supporting parents in Internet and Technology Safety for Families is planned for the week of November 15th. This will be a remote event. We will be sending a separate email through parent square this week with registration information.

Knowledge of Families Questionnaire: We continue to collect information about our families to support our instructional priority of using a deep knowledge of students and families to target individual needs in order to support improved progress and performance for all students. Knowing our families allows us to incorporate that knowledge into providing a culturally responsive and sustaining education which supports all students. Please take the time to complete it here.

Device Request Link: Please complete the survey in order to be put on the list for technology distribution. Someone from the school will contact you for device pick-up.

Thank you for your support we know that with parents as partners, we will continue to ensure that our children become Learners for Life, for Life!
