Weekly Update #31

Dear PS 184 Parents and Guardians,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in our school community. We hope that you had an opportunity to be celebrated today. Please read this week’s message for important updates and reminders.

Summer Rising Program: All NYC school students are eligible for the Summer Rising program and all interested parents should visit https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dycd/services/SummerRising.page for more information and to apply. You will be asked to create a NYC.gov ID if you do not have one. Summer Rising is for K-8 and it is an extension of the school year; children will enroll based on their current grade. Pre-K is not eligible. 5th graders will enroll in the elementary school program.

Morning Arrivals: The school building opens for morning arrivals from 8:20 – 8:30 am. Students must enter at their designated doors during this time. Please do not bring your child to the main entrance if their doors are still open. Students should arrive on time to school every day. Lateness is an attendance issue and students learn best when they start their day on time.

Attendance: As we approach the last month and a half of the school year, attendance continues to be monitored. Remote and in-person attendance is taken every day. Remote students should be completing the mood meter in the morning, turning in assignments in a timely manner and participating in the live sessions. Parents/guardians of students with chronic absences will be contacted.

School Year 2021-2022: The NYC Department of Education calendar for the 2021-2022 school year was published earlier this week and was emailed to parents. If you missed the email, you can find the calendar at: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/news/2021-2022-school-year-calendar. We do not yet have information on next year’s daily schedule or after-school programs. We will update families as information becomes available.
