Weekly Update #19
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you are all staying safe, healthy, and warm, as we move into February 2021. We want to thank all of our families for their support in ensuring that our children complete the iReady diagnostic assessments. We have over 95% complete! We are also assigning the RAZ kids reading level assessments at this time.
Spirit Day: Sports Jersey/Apparel Spirit Day Friday, February 5th: Attention all remote and in-person staff and students… Let’s celebrate Superbowl LV by showing our team spirit! Wear your favorite football or any sports jersey or apparel.
Covid Guidelines: We continue to ask that all family members and caregivers who drop off and pick up students wear masks at all times, maintain social distancing, and avoid gathering. The staff and students observe strict guidelines while at school, we have had a low number of cases compared to others in the district, and the same procedures we follow in the building should be adhered to while outside, in and around the vicinity of the school, during the entire school day.
Arrivals and Dismissals: We understand that during cold and inclement weather families want to avoid walking and standing outdoors, however, it remains important to observe traffic safety at arrival and dismissal. Friday we had traffic issues on 21st Avenue, cars were double and triple parked, and drivers were blocking our neighbors’ driveways. Please observe parking rules and do not block the road to through traffic. Less than half of our students are attending in person, there should not be traffic issues.
Parent Chats: Our first Parent Chat will be for Kindergarten and 1st Grade parents. Those parents will receive information via email this week. We are also looking for parent volunteers whose primary language is Chinese (either dialect), or Spanish, to volunteer for a District 25 Parent Chat in your language. Please contact Mrs. Golia, email@example.com, if you are interested
Teacher Contact: Please be reminded that all teachers have established a method of communication for our families. Teachers will respond in 24 hours or on the next school day. If you have trouble reaching your child’s teacher, you can always call the office and leave a message for a teacher as well.
District 25 CEC Meeting and Town Hall: This month’s Community Education Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 7:00 pm. Additionally, on March 3rd, 2021 there will be a CEC 25 Town Hall with Chancellor Richard Carranza. Visit our CEC website www.d25.nyc/cec for the links to join the meetings and the form to submit questions for the Chancellor.
2021 Community and Citywide Elections: The Community and Citywide Education Council’s elections are underway. Information on voting will follow. If any parent is interested in running for a position or learning more, you can find information online at Elections.
School Experience Survey: The survey is now available online and all parents are invited to share their feedback by taking it at School Experience Survey.
Homework/Asynchronous work: Last week we shared the updated homework policy. If you didn’t have a chance to review it, please visit this link: Updated HW Policy.
Counselor’s Corner: a virtual classroom with resources and activities separated by grade for students and families. Join Counselor’s Corner today with code 4u7g3mv on google classroom.
New York City Schools Account (NYCSA): We continue to reach out to families with the goal of at least one parent/guardian registering for the NYCSA per student. *This is not the account you use for enrollment or that your students use to login to their learning tools. The NYCSA is where you will retrieve your student’s report cards, grades, attendance data, and much more. If you received a message about this, please reach out to Mrs. Golia, firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will help you set up your account.
Snack Sale Return: Snack sale continues every Wednesday for in-person students, please send in exact change (snacks are $1 each).
Stay safe and healthy!
