Weekly Update #11
As many of you have heard, the Mayor has announced today that K-5 school buildings will reopen next Monday December 7,2020. Until then we will continue to provide instruction at home. Adjusted cluster schedules have been provided for use this week. These schedules will also take effect in the event schools are forced to be fully remote at any time during school year 20-21.
When in-person learning continues, only students whose parents have agreed to consent to weekly COVID testing will be allowed to attend in person learning. This is a new policy announced in the parent update from the chancellor last week. Our understanding is this testing applies to grade 1-5 students. The mayor also mentioned a 5-day a week in-person schedule for students in grades K-5 schools. This schedule will be dependent on many factors including the total number of families who will consent to weekly testing and keep their children in the in- person program as well as the guidelines for safety and social distancing.
Once we have all the necessary information we will be able to determine what the future schedules will look like for each in-person child and class. We will continue to work to ensure the best and safest learning conditions for all students. We appreciate your ongoing support throughout this process.
I expect there may be many updates in the next week. Please continue to check your emails and the school website frequently in the coming days. I will also be sharing any up to date information at tomorrow evening’s PTA meeting. I hope to see many of you there.
