Weekly Update #7

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to introduce a new tool which will be posted each week on the website https://ps184q.com/ to assist blended families in adhering to the correct in-person and at home days. We will post a weekly calendar that provides the correct in person attendance letter on each day of  the week. You can also click here to download and print the November calendar to keep at home.  We will continue to make phone call reminders at different points in the week to remind families of important school information.

Important Schedule Changes This Week:

Election Day Schedule: November 3, 2020-NO IN PERSON LEARNING: Teachers will be instructing all students remotely on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. For health and Safety reasons, there will be NO in person learning on Election Day for any New York City School Student. Most students will follow their regular schedules for live sessions and Group A students will receive information on their google classroom as to their schedule for the day. Thank you for your support in assisting your child in navigating this change in schedule.

Parent Teacher Conferences: November 5, 2020-HALF DAY
FOR ALL STUDENTS: There will be no instruction after 11:00 AM.
Teachers will be scheduling remote sessions to speak with families to briefly discuss progress reports. The sessions may be scheduled during the afternoon or evening of November 5, 2020.  Teachers may offer additional times during this week as needed.

Progress Reports: Progress reports will be emailed to all families on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

Learning Preference Survey: As mentioned in an email early last week, beginning November 2,2020-November 15,2020, parents and guardians can opt into blended learning for their children. As per the Chancellor, this is the only scheduled opt in window for blended learning for the remainder of the school year. Families can continue to opt in to fully remote learning at any time. The link for the survey is https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference. We is also posted on the homepage.

Consent for Random Testing: The consent for Random testing that was previously distributed has been revised by central DOE. This revision includes the information about the more frequent testing that may take place in schools that are in certain zones as implemented by the Governor. The updated form will be distributed to all the in person families this week and should be returned as soon as possible. There is also an online link on your New York City School Account where you can provide consent electronically, this is sent to the school’s data base. Here is the link to more information from central about this. https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learning/student-journey/nyc-schools-account

PTA Election Updates: An expedited election will be held on November 9, 2020 at 7:00PM to fill core positions of the PTA E-board, since they were not all filled at the previous election meeting. An email has been previously sent with information about this.

Sincerely,

Anna Dimilta

Principal
