Thanksgiving Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians of Flushing Manor,

As we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, there are many things that I, as a principal of such a unique and wonderful school, have to be thankful for. First and foremost, I am thankful for the 523 students who come into our building each day, ready to learn and ready to give their all. The children are always at the center of all of my decisions, as they themselves will tell you, their safety and well-being is always “FIRST” at Flushing Manor. I am grateful for the families who support our school and our vision of ensuring that every child is here to learn and grow to become prepared for the real world beyond elementary school. I am thankful for a dedicated staff of professionals who are committed to the success of every student in our school. From our school aides, office staff, kitchen staff, custodial staff, parent coordinator, teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, and assistant principal, each of them demonstrates an exceptional level of care for each and every one of our students. Lastly, I am thankful for a data stream that over the years has demonstrated that when parents and educators work together to support children, students flourish and are more prepared than ever to succeed in the real world! Our school’s NYS test data and NYC Survey results have supported this idea over the past several years. Our most recent School Quality Snapshot indicating a rating of Excellent in all areas, including student achievement, has just been released. I have shared the link on the principal’s page of our school website for you to view all of the details. This accomplishment is something that I am humbled by and grateful for!

As we continue on our journey to excellence for all, we have provided several at home resources this year. Each one has been selected and purchased with a specific purpose in mind. Though these resources are optional for our families, they are highly recommended as they are research based, therefore we include them as part of the assigned homework on all grades. We hope you find these computer based resources helpful to support your child at home.

Wishing everyone a safe warm, and festive Thanksgiving 2019!
